About AM Engineering, Inc.
AM Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1986 by William J. Murchie, P.E. and Arthur W. Altenderfer, P.E. with the goal of providing quality, professional engineering and surveying services to its clients. Principals since 2004, D. Shawn Leins (with AM Engineering since 1988) and Ronald R. Nourse (with AM Engineering since 1997), continue this tradition emphasizing consultant-client communications, product quality and professionalism.
| AM Engineering, Inc. is a medium-size engineering and surveying consulting firm that specializes in the design and construction administration of residential and commercial land development projects including both large and small scale storm water management facilities, water distribution systems, wastewater collection facilities, roadways, parking facilities, site grading and complete surveying services. The principals are supported by an experienced staff. Employees at all levels are encouraged to attend seminars and classes necessary to stay current in a rapidly changing technical field. Professional registration is also strongly encouraged and all of the professional staff are either Florida Registered Engineers or Professional Surveyors and Mappers.
Our size allows us to provide high quality responsive and efficient service to our clients. During the course of the project the client enjoys the advantage of dealing directly with a design team headed by a principal of the company. Direct communications between the client and a company principal typically results in a superior project. This philosophy of quality and service has proved extremely successful. A substantial majority of our clients have completed multiple projects with the firm, and most of our new clients came to us based on our reputation within the community or on the recommendation of a current client.
AM Engineering, Inc. utilizes current technology to maintain staff productivity. AutoCAD, Land Development Desktop and Eaglepoint software are utilized on our CAD stations. Other specialized software include WaterCAD, Cybernet and Kentucky Pipes for hydraulic network computations, ADICPR for storm water routing and attenuation calculations, and miscellaneous database, word processing, accounting, spreadsheet, electronic filing cabinet and project cost software.
Numerous land development projects have put AM Engineering, Inc. in constant contact with the local, district and regional staff of the Department of Environmental Protection and the Southwest Florida Water Management District We have applied for and received numerous permits from these and other local agencies on projects throughout Hillsborough, Manatee, DeSoto, Charlotte, and Sarasota counties.
Our residential and commercial land development projects include the design, permitting and construction of Ventura Village, a 396 unit residential subdivision, The Habitat for Humanity – Leonard Reid Subdivision (which will be a LID Project), The Trillium Subdivision, the Park Forest Development in Englewood, the Stay & Play R.V. Resort on Knights Trail, the 293-unit Villages at Pinetree Subdivision Phases I, 2 and 3, multiple additions to the Ringling School of Art & Design, the master site design for the expansion of the John Ringling Museum, several new buildings at the Bradenton and Venice Campus of Manatee Community College, Berlin Branch of the Sarasota YMCA, Sarasota Baptist Church, Suncoast Community Church, The Church of Hope, Sarasota Bay Club Phases 1 and 2, Keiser College and many more projects.
More recently AM Engineering has been involved in land development projects that are obtaining LEED certification. These projects include the Ringling College and the recently completed Willis Smith Headquarters in Lakewood Ranch.
